THE MANOR HOUSE – large country garden
In this large country garden, paths and planting now link previously isolated features, such as the ponds and terrace, creating harmony and flow, and a long vista draws the eye to the open countryside.
Both formal and relaxed areas combine to create interest and a sense of discovery as you move about the garden.
Planting is mixed, with traditional styles chosen for colour and all year interest closer to the house, changing to meadow planting with a woodland edge towards the boundary.
LARGE GARDEN – Modern
The garden surrounds the house on three sides, a blank canvas of lawn with only a small gravel area behind the garage for table and chairs. The client requested a modern garden whilst still keeping a large lawn and planting area, with space for outdoor entertaining.
A green oak and glass extension runs along one side of the house and now looks out onto a slate terrace with a shallow reflective pool. Contemporary statuary and planting is lit at night creating a dramatic view from the house.
Mixed planting surrounds the lawn, particular attention has been paid to winter structure and colour.
