Our client had a large garden laid mostly to lawn, we were asked to design some planting areas to enhance the space and break up the view of the surrounding properties. As you can see from below we firstly came up with a drawing in which we proposed building raised wooden planters from new railway sleepers and two number mirrored beds at the end of the garden. Once the design was decided upon we discussed and devised a planting plan which would give height and all year round colour . Please click on the pictures below for an enlarged view.

Our client lived on a very exposed coast line which suffered from westerly winds. Finding that most other shrubs could not stand the wind and salt air it was decided that the only plant that grew in the area were Elaeagnus. We supplied and planted as shown below 18 number Elaeagnus ebbingei at 1.5 to 1.7m in height. These will grow to a maximum height of around 8 to 10ft and bears down covered evergreen leaves. Our client were overlooked by several houses behind there property and wanted to plant a screen which will grow quickly and hide the numerous windows. However our client were concerned with planting a lleylandii hedge due to the imposing nature they are known for. We suggested that we create a new planting bed in front of the lleylandii hedge in order to take you eyes away from the windows and hedging. As you can see from the pictures below the lleylandii hedge immediately creates screening and security and the new planting breaks up the hedge line and gives good all year round colour and height.
