Our client had an original pond constructed a few years ago but wanted to make the area more sucluded and to construct a quiet place to sit and read. We started by erecting a Sussex post and rail fence around the area thus providing a shape to the finished area. The next project was to take up and replace the original paving around the pond which was crumbling and moving.

We proposed a timber frame pergola with a reclaimed slate roof. We designed the basic structure which provided an interior space of approximatley 8ft square. As you can see from the pictures below the pergola was finished with a low brick wall to the sides and trellis panels for climbing roses. Thus giving a quiet peacfull pleace away from the wind. We were asked by our client to clear an existing area and lay a new patio where they could put some table and chairs.   Our client decided on a light coloured Indian Sandstone to reflect as much light as possible and with the added advantage of being very hard wearing and good value for money in comparison to commonly used precast paving slabs. The new patio creates a new look to the garden with a good area for seating etc. Please click on the pictures below for an enlarged view.

We were asked by our client to lay a new patio and fill in the gap in the fence. An existing brick path around the side of the house led to a paved area of old bricks. After taking up the existing bricks and finishing the fence we excavated the proposed area for the new patio. Our client decided on Indian Sandstone as this is a very hard wearing and good value for money in comparison to commonly used precast paving slabs. The new patio creates a new look to the garden with a good area for seating etc. We have also extended the width of the original path and built a small retaining wall to the side . We where asked by our client to propose a design which would achieve a low maintenance garden with flower borders, a place for vegetables, a large patio area, a pergola and a water feature. We came up with a design using the top level of the garden for growing vegetables surrounded by woodland bark path, this gives access to all sides of the raised vegetable patches and to the left  we have install a planting bed to give colour, height and some shading. With the the lower level we installed a larger patio, a wooden pergola with a seating area and a water feature. We also installed a planting bed to the right side with lighting which will enhance the colours of the plants. Please click on the pictures below for an enlarged view.

We were asked by our client to suggest a solution to an untidy slope at the entrance to the drive. We supplied and installed a woodland path with steps, a rockery to hold back the existing soil and a half round log retaining wall. We also supplied and planted 100 Brachyglottis sunshine ( Senico ) and 100 Hypericum hidcote which are low growing ground cover shrubs. These will quickly grow to cover over the bank and help to stabilize the slope. Please click on the pictures below for an enlarged view
